Sophie's Studio aims to instil, build and nurture young dancers confidence using the discipline of dance. Sophie's classes are crafted in such a way that seeks to see students leave classes proud of themselves and with a smile each week.

With a dance school of over 170 students, Sophie's teaching notion seems so far to be a recipe for success.

Hip Hop

A way to improve your little ones confidence and give them a chance to channel their energy and creativity through the most popular dance style of the moment. Hip Hop classes aim to nurture individuality, encourage any hidden talents and encourage inner confidence to flourish in and outside of class.

Musical Theatre Class
Ages - All (5-11yrs)

Saturday , 10:15-11 am, The Holbrook Club

A class that teaches the techniques to combine all three theatrical disciplines. Musical Theatre sees students being able to sing, act, move to music and above all perform.

Covering; voice technique, accents, improvisation, learning lines, stage craft, camera technique, stage fighting, blocking, delivering monologues, learning to sing whilst performing choreography, understanding the meaning of a song, interacting with and helping other performers, audition technique, knowing and understating what characters you can play, working as a team and building up a folder of traditional Musical Theatre and Pop singing repertoire.

Taught by musical theatre actress Sophie of Sophie's Studio who's aim is to bring out the very best in every student.
A fun filled session giving students the chance to learn, improve and build confidence through performance.

For those of the Sophie's Studio gang who wish to dance more than once each week! (9yrs+)

For committed young dancers who are keen to take their dance training to the next level. This class takes dance training to the next level.

Focusing particularly on style, performance, artistic license, gaining an understanding of influential dance practitioners, building up a knowledge of dance technique and exploring a different style each week.

From Contemporary to Commercial Dance, Ballet workshops to popular music, Lyrical dance, Contact Improvisation, Choreography and working with a stimulus, traditional Musical Theatre repertoire to name but a few, this class covers an abundance of different and exciting styles.

For students looking to pursue GCSE level dance this class is the perfect stepping stone to bridge the gap between a love of dance as a child through to looking deeper in to the history and eclecticism of dance both physically and academically.


Acro Dance
Tuesday 7:15-8:15pm
For experienced dancers only

A combination of stretching and flexibility work, body and core conditioning and learning and perfecting acrobatic techniques known in the dance world as 'tricks'. The most sort after dance genre of the moment, Sophie's Studio are the only dance school to offer this style class outside of London. This class is an add on class for any young dancer wishing to find their 'Ace Card' Taught by Lauren Chapman, our new resident acro coach. Lauren boasts a successful acro career of her own and is recognised by British Gymnastics 1st4Sport for being a level 1&2 coach of acrobatic gymnastics.

This dance discipline looks at improving and learning skills with Lauren and then learning to seamlessly link acrobatics with choreography of varying styles with Sophie.


Ladies Jazz Dance Class
Thursday 7-8pm, The Holbrook Club

Put down the kids, housework, feather duster, job and partner for an hour a week and feel just fabulous! This hour is about you. Improve your dance skills with other like-minded attendees, ladies who just love to boogie.

From jazz dance, musical theatre repertoire, routines to big band classics, dancing with props, a burlesque or Bollywood themed week or any other theme or song you may desire to request, let me know, come along and we can all have a giggle together!

Burn a few extra calories and feel wonderful!


Horsham Gymnasts Club Acro Squad Artistic Coach

Sophie has now been Dance Coach to the HGC Acro Squad for the best part of three years. Improving their dance technique, performance and presentation. Sophie sources, then mixes music and choreographs/floor plans the squads routines for competitions.

Since HGC have had Sophie onboard as Dance Coach, the squad has had massive success and achieved many gold’s in competitions nationwide and has even seen some members of the squad become British Champions.

Sophie absolutely loves working with the squad and alongside the Acro coaches and together they aim to keep improving and pushing the boundaries of success at HGC!

Who knows what successes the future holds for such a talented young squad?

Having rewritten the National Curriculum for Dance Key Stage One and Two this year, Sophie now teaches dance as part of Primary Schools PE syllabus.

Understanding that dance is a very specific discipline to teach, Sophie is able to deliver dance lessons for schools condensing a professional understanding of dance in to classes for young minds.

Sophie also delivers dance classes as Breakfast Clubs and After School Clubs. Extra curricular clubs see dance taught with a slightly more relaxed and fun approach.

Key Stage One and Two Dance Teacher Training

Sophie now delivers lectures to train schoolteachers in the delivery of dance lessons in schools. Putting to use the medium of dance to encourage confidence and instill self-belief in young students.

Sophie narrates teachers through a typical dance class inclusive of; warm up, technical corner work exercises, interpretive dance exercises, teaching and performing a typical dance routine and then a cool down.

These seminars are delivered complete with literary hand outs so you can participate fully in the workshop without the worry of missing the vital points and tips. Aiming to improve teacher’s confidence in delivering a specific discipline.


GCSE, A/AS Level Dance Master Classes & Choreographed Pieces

Dance discipline/Genre/Musical Theatre repertoire or any other theme of workshop can be prepared and provided upon request.


Kids Dance Party Workshops

Duration 1 Hour
Minimum 10 participants

Stuck for a fabulous party idea? Have Sophie's Studio come and teach an hour-long dance party workshop! Bespoke choreography to a theme or song of your choice, a dance routine choreographed to make your party girl or boy the star of the party! Tailored to suit children of all ages. Workshop includes; Warm up, Cool down, plenty of photo opportunities, watching back a recording of the dance routine to conclude the workshop and plenty of games, competitions, prizes and in-between!!


“SSDC” Sophie’s Studio SQUAD

Sophie's Studio's dance squad, SSDC brings together a group of 14 of SS’s most committed and talented dancers aged between 7-15yrs. All of dancers at Sophie’s Studio have the opportunity to audition each year for a place on the team.

The squad also boasts a Dance Captain, Nikki Sneesby and Assistant Dance Captain, Sian Harrison and Swing (Reserve), Thea Mae O’Pray. The squad train for an hour and a half each week on top of all their other dance classes so that we are ready for any performances, promotions, shows, opening ceremonies, flash mobs that SS may be asked to take part in. The Squad are also Sophie’s Studio Competition Team and many of the dancers assist Sophie in classes for younger students.

Having been asked many a time now to perform for various events in and around Horsham Sophie’s Studio needed a little team of strong dancers who train each week; working on choreography and several dance disciplines that we can perform, polish and perfect with minimal notice. A team of dancers who NEVER miss class, are focused and keen to represent and be the face of SS at any given opportunity for public displays that may come our way. Squad dancers also have the chance to take part in workshops taught by industry professionals covering a plethora of different dance styles.

Fees

Classes start at £5.50, some classes vary in price; please email for further details.

Fees for new students are initially on a pay as you go basis and then will be payable monthly from the issue of the following months invoice to secure a new students place in the school and in their class.

When paying monthly fees please note that a students absence from class will NOT alter the monthly payable invoice. Fees are only deductible when class is cancelled by the principal or when the school is closed for holidays.

NO annual membership fee for students is charged.

ONE MONTHS NOTICE MUST be given for any student wishing to leave a particular class.
